Application Monitoring Metrics (AMM)

The Application Monitoring Metrics is a set of defined metrics describing the status of different parts of IFS Applications. These metrics are available via a command line interface (CLI) and can be used by external monitoring tools.

If relevant thresholds are supplied in the call to the interface, it will combine those with corresponding metrics, evaluate an expression and then return a service status. The possible status values are "OK", "Warning", "Critical" and "Unknown". The service status indicates if a problem arises that need to be handled in order to preserve application availability. The expressions are written in a generic way in order to fit different installations of IFS Applications.

Setting relevant thresholds for the different metric states requires knowledge about how IFS Applications is performing under normal workload.

One or several services can be combined into a service group. An example can be found in Metric & Service Groups - Structure Example. See also Metric & Service Groups - Contents for detailed information.

The command line interface (CLI) examples provided can be used by an external monitoring tool to indicate the status for different parts of IFS Applications. In Application Monitoring Metrics CLI a detailed explanation of how to use the CLI is provided.
